Will my existing Cooler works on the new AM5 socket?
Will my existing CPU Cooler work with the new AM5 AMD CPUs? Please refer to the chart below to see the compatibility status of various CPU Cooler brands.
*Table below will be updated accordingly
CPU Cooler Manufacturer | Compatibility Status |
Noctua |
All existing Noctua coolers and mounting kits that support AM4 (purchased after 12/2018) are compatible with the AM5 sockets except for the following coolers: NH-L9a-AM4 and NM-AM4-L9aL9i. For CPU coolers purchased before 12/2018, an upgrade kit may be required which can be provided by Noctua free of charge at this link (https://noctua.at/en/webforms/form/preview/id/52/) Please refer to the link below for more information. |
EKWB |
Most existing EKWB AM4 products/coolers are compatible with the new AM5 socket, with few exceptions for some EKWB products (such as the EK-Quantum Velocity AMD and the EK-Quantum Magnitude AM4). Please refer to the link below for more information. |
Lian-Li |
All Lian Li AM4 CPU Coolers will be AM5 compatible. |
Corsair |
There is no purchase necessary for new brackets or replacement for your existing cooler when upgrading your system to the new AM5 platform. Please refer to the link below for more information. |
Asus |
Asus’s ROG Ryujin, Ryuo, and Strix LC coolers will fit via an AM5 mounting kit, while TUF Gaming LC coolers will fit using the existing kits. Please refer to the link below for more information. |
NZXT |
Existing AM4 NZXT coolers (with the exception of M22, Kraken 120S, and H1 coolers) will not be compatible with the new AM5 socket, and a new AM5 bracket will need to be utilized. While an AM4 bracket will fit, it is recommended to use an AM5 bracket to prevent possible damage to your components. NZXT plans to take requests for the brackets in early to mid-September and will make a formal announcement when they will be offering them to customers. Please refer to the link below for more information. |
EVGA |
All EVGA coolers with an existing AM4 bracket can be used with the new AM5 socket and no new parts are needed. |
Fractal Design |
All of Fractal Design's coolers which are compatible with AM4 socket CPUs will support the new AM5 socket without any need for a conversion kit. |
Cooler Master |
All Cooler Master’s Liquid Coolers will support AM5 out of the box. For Air Coolers, an AM5 Upgrade Kit will be needed. Please refer to the link below for more information. |
be quiet |
Due to AMD's AM4 and AM5 sockets having identical mounting and socket types, no additional bracket is required. |
DeepCool |
DeepCool will provide free-of-charge mounting kits for AMD’s upcoming AM5 platform. Please refer to the link below for more information. |
SilverStone |
Most SilverStone coolers are compatible with AM5 out-of-the-box, except for SilverStone’s IceGem (IG) series which requires an AM5 mounting kit for $12.99. Please refer to the link below for more information. |
Thermaltake |
Most Thermaltake coolers are compatible with the new AM5 socket with some exceptions such as the TOUGHAIR series products, in which an upgrade kit is required. Please refer to the link below for more information. |
